My family has lived in Carroll County since 1990. I practiced law here
from1989 to 2006. Many families and small business owners in Carroll County have
entrusted me to advise and represent them on some of the most intimate and
sensitive problem areas in their lives. It was an honor and privilege to act as
my clients’ counselor and advocate.
Since being elected I have endeavored to bring my skills to bear on many
pressing challenges of our county. This has not been my first involvement in
public service, merely the latest. I’ve been privileged to serve and hold
leadership roles in many service clubs, boards and committees. I am past
president of the Greater Mount Airy Chamber of Commerce. I have been the
government relations chairman for both the Greater Mount Airy Chamber of
Commerce and the South Carroll Business Association.
I am the past Vice President of Liberty Christian Counseling Service, Inc. I
have been a Chairman of the Deacon Board of Chapelgate Presbyterian Church. My
family and I currently attend LifePoint Church. I’ve served previously on the
Advisory Board of Marriage Savers of Carroll County.
I was selected to fill an opening on the Carroll County Republican Central
Committee in December of 2003. On that committee my duties included moderating a
public meeting to interview Delegate applicants, organizing numerous
fundraisers, registering voters and briefly holding the position of Acting
Chairman of the Committee.
The South Carroll Republican Club has been a very important organization for
me. I am a past secretary of the club and remain an active member. I have
organized fundraisers and guest speakers for the club.
In February 2004, I began writing opinion columns for the Eldersburg Gazette.
In December 2004, I switched my column to the Carroll County Times. The columns
addressed government and politics at all levels. They also addressed
international issues, cultural matters and current events.
I have been married to Cherie since 1990. We have two girls ages 15 and 12.
We have participated in many community activities together such as the Freedom
Area Recreation Council, Pioneer Girls, Awana and various camps. |
